VR hasn’t yet brought about a revolution of the Trophy or Achievement systems for gaming, but SteamVR Collectibles are pretty close to that. This week, Valve has added the second wave of figurines to this new concept.
The new batch of SteamVR Collectibles features ornaments from games like Superhot VR and Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality, which just so happen to be two of the best games on the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. There’s also nods to other great games like Island 359, Raw Data and Rec Room. You can check out the full list below.
To grab these figurines all you have to do is own and play the games correspond to. Valve first introduces the system a few weeks back with statues from popular launch games like Job Simulator, Fantastic Contraption and Space Pirate Trainer. You can summon each from a list of items and then decorate your SteamVR Home space with them, inviting friends in to show off your collection.
In the future we’d like to see the system evolve to recognize specific in-game achievements. Imagine have a gold Superhot trophy for completing the game with only headshots, for example, or something to similar effect. That would put us back on the trophy hunt for sure.
