Respected VR developer Survios’ second game, Sprint Vector, is fast approaching (pun intended), and with E3 just around the corner the company is ready to showcase some new features for it.
Sprint Vector is a first-person racing experience that serves as a showcase for the company’s new fluid locomotion system. Users pull the world towards them using their arms, while a momentum system builds the speed at which they move with. The result is a sort of futuristic take on track racing that’s quite unlike the team’s first game, the highly polished Raw Data. You take on friends online, running as fast as 300 mph.
Building on the core experience that Survios debuted at GDC in March, the E3 build of Sprint Vector will be showcasing weapons and power-ups that add a little Mario Kart-style madness into the mix. Every player will be armed with a standard blast attack that they can use to shoot down obstacles blocking the way forward, but what’s more interesting are the periodical weapon and power-up drops.
For now, Survios is revealing just two of these. There first is a Nitro power-up to boost your speed, while the second is a Slow Mine that does exactly what it says on the tin. Nitero gives you a Dragon Ball-like glow around your screen, while the Mine appears as an orb that players will have to watch out for. Activate these features at the right time and you’ll be able to storm into first-place or bolster your lead over the enemy. More weapons will be revealed ahead of the game’s launch later this year.
New movement systems such as drifting and wall running are also coming to the game. We’ll be eager to see how they effect player comfort, which is one of the key focuses of this new title. Check back for more from Sprint Vector next week as we finally hit the LA Convention Center.
