Time to dust off the ol’ Aim controller; Anshar Studios’ Telefrag is set to support it.
The developer confirmed as much in an ask me anything session on Reddit this week. The team couldn’t promise that Aim support would arrive on launch day. It’s releasing on July 19 (Friday!) so that’d be a bit of a squeeze.
Telefrag is a dual-wielding shooter so it remains to be seen how Aim support will be implemented. Still, this will no doubt make plenty of PSVR fans happy; the rifle-shaped Aim controller is one of the most immersive ways to jump into VR but precious few games actually support it.
And this seems like it’d be a perfect fit. Anshar describes Telefrag as a classic arena shooter inside VR. Think Unreal Tournament or Quake with a headset on. Matches are set to 1v1 play and allow you to defy gravity. It’s a fast-paced shooter that also supports to Move and DualShock 4 controllers. We’ve played it once or twice over the past year and found a lot to like, though it remains to be seen if it can challenge the most popular multiplayer VR shooters.
Elsewhere Anshar confirmed that it isn’t planning any DLC for the game at this point in time. It will, however, continue to support the title through new updates.
Besides PSVR, the game’s releasing on Rift, Vive, Index and Windows VR on Friday. It’ll cost $24.99. The studio says it has no plans to bring the game to Oculus Quest right now. Let’s hope that changes in the future!
