Valve Now Shipping Index & Controllers Immediately In The UK

If you’ve been waiting patiently for the Valve Index in the UK, your chance may have just arrived. That is if you own an HTC Vive or Vive Pro.

The VR headset now starts shipping within four to eight business days paired with the Index Controllers. This is the ideal option for people that already have base stations leftover from their HTC Vive, going for £689. The full Valve Index VR Kit, which comes with the new Index Base Stations, costs £919 and is still operating on a reserve basis in the UK.

Your original Vive base stations will track Index and the controllers just fine, however. The new Index Base Stations do allow for a wider play space and a larger number of stations synced together. You could always buy the Index and Controllers now and then upgrade your base stations for £139 each later down the line should you feel the need.

The full kit started shipping immediately in the US a few weeks back. Most of the individual components in the UK can now be ordered straight away, so we wouldn’t expect the full kit to take too much longer. We’ll update this article when it does. You can also order just the headset by itself straight away. Index controllers by themselves are still on reserve. It’s a little bit confusing, isn’t it?

Index is one of the best new VR headsets of 2019. It might be pricey but, as we said in our review, it offers some of the clearest visuals, crisp audio and best tracking in VR today.
