Viveport Developer Awards Return For A Second Year Offering $50,000

HTC’s competition to bring more content to its Viveport VR software store is back, offering $50,000 to one lucky (or hard-working) developer.

The Viveport Developer Awards is now in its second year and offers $50,000 to the first-place winner along with a spot in an upcoming studio profile video from HTC, early access to new developer hardware (perhaps a Vive Pro?) and a trophy. Second place gets $20,000 as well as those bonuses.

Want to be in with a chance on winning? All you have to do is submit your app to Viveport by February 9th and that’s pretty much it. HTC gets a lot more content for Viveport, developers get a shot at winning a lot of money; everyone wins.

But don’t expect it to be easy; HTC is looking for the best of the best here, representing different areas of VR. It’s looking for apps that span education, entertainment, enterprise and arts and culture. It’s even on the hunt for experiences that are designed for location-based VR.

Last year’s winners included Apollo 11 VR and La Peri – Firebird, two apps that covered immersive education and fantastical experiences respectively.

Viveport itself recently got a makeover that allows users to jump into VR and browse the digital store.
