In case you are just now waking up from that coma let me be the first to tell you: Beyoncé is pregnant. That’s right, the Queen Bee is carrying twin…bee puppies? Bee kittens? What do you call a baby bee?
Note: it turns out they are called “larvae” but I’m sticking with bee puppies for obvious reasons.
Recently, Beyoncé and her husband Jay Z released a series of pregnancy glamour shots that sent the maternal instincts of the Internet into a collective overdrive. I myself blacked out after I saw the photo only to reawaken inside an OshKosh B’gosh with a cart full of onesies.
All of this pales in comparison, however, to what one virtual reality artist created.
Creator David French forged the above work in Oculus Medium — a virtual reality sculpting tool that lets artists mold, combine and color digital clays. French confesses he’s not much of a Beyoncé fan (agents have already been dispatched to his residence) but was inspired by the lyrics of her newest album. According to him:
“I must confess I don’t actually know much about Beyoncé’s work, but read an article about Warsan Shire, London Poet Laureate, and contributor to Beyonce’s newest album. Her poem The Unbearable Weight of Staying is quite beautiful…I wanted to push Oculus Medium to the limits with my VR sculpts, so I decided to do Beyoncé at the Grammy’s, something that had multiple aspects that made it difficult.”
For those interested in learning more, French has published a full blog post on Medium about his process. Also, check out these other amazing pieces of VR artwork from creators around the world.
