Next week holds possibly the most packed set of releases we’ve ever seen for VR. It’s fitting, then, that before it all kicks off we’ll get a chance to look back with the 2019 VR Awards.
The annual ceremony gets underway tomorrow night in London. As with previous years, some of the biggest names in the industry will gather under one roof to celebrate some of the best VR headsets, games and experiences recently released.
Big games like Astro Bot, Blood & Truth and A Fisherman’s Tale will be going toe-to-toe for this year’s VR Game Of The Year award, whilst Vader Immortal, Wolves in the Walls and Grenfell: Our Home will be competing in the Experience and Film categories. The VR Awards look beyond entertainment, though, with awards for Marketing, Education, Innovation and Healthcare.
2019, of course, marks the year that Oculus Quest stepped into the ring. The standalone headset is up for the tech award, but it will be interesting to see how its popularity affects next year’s show too.
We’ll be at the show to run down all the winners, so look out for the news tomorrow night. We’ll also be giving you a look inside the event in the next episode of the VR Culture Show! Who are you rooting for this year? Let us know in the comments below!
