VR Used To Aid In Sperm Collection At USC Fertility Lab

A VR headset is available at USC’s Fertility program pre-loaded with adult content and available to men to aid them in collecting their sperm.

The facility was given the headset a few weeks ago according to adult entertainment company VR Bangers, and we confirmed with the facility the system has been used.

“We are very sensitive to all of our patients’ needs and the stress of collecting a sperm specimen in a doctor’s office is a major source of stress for our male patients,” said Dr. Richard Paulson of the USC Los Angeles Fertility Center, in a press release sent by the adult entertainment company. “The virtual reality unit from VR Bangers offers the patient an opportunity to leave, in a virtual way, the stressful environment of the collection room and makes the experience more pleasant.”

We don’t recall anyone previously discussing the use of VR to aid in sperm collection for the purposes of in vitro fertilization, but adult entertainment is a frequently discussed use case for VR and the immersive technology has also been seeing use as a tool in hospitals and clinics to distract patients from their pain and surroundings.
