Headset Heaven: Vive Cosmos, Apple AR, Quest Case + Nintendo - VRecap

Headset Heaven: Vive Cosmos, Apple AR, Quest Case + Nintendo - VRecap

This week’s VRecap is headset heaven!

We’ve got four news stories to cover this week, and each of them covers something new you might be strapping to your eyes soon. First, there’s Vive Cosmos launch details. When is HTC’s new headset out, what does it cost and what do we think of it? Watch the video below to find out.

Next up we’re paying a visit to Apple. Yes, about a million iPhones were announced this week, but mention of an AR headset has also been uncovered. Speaking of incredibly exciting hypothetical headsets, Facebook has a patent for what could be a new version of Oculus Quest with a companion device that’s part computer, part charger and part, uh, travel case.

Finally! We’re also looking at a Nintendo patent that could be hinting at new Switch VR products. A document picturing a simplified headset surfaced online. Does this mean you can play Zelda in VR without Labo? Maybe! Does that mean you should? Probably not!

But this week isn’t just about the hardware. It’s one of the biggest release weeks yet since we launched VRecap a few months back. There’s new stuff across PC VR, PSVR and Quest, but we’ll draw particular attention to Calm Down, Stalin VR, because you play as Stalin. Who knew VR would peak so early?

GIVEAWAY: Win A Free Physical Copy of Angry Birds 2: Under Pressure on PSVR!

As for our competition, we’ve got a rare physical prize up for grabs this week. If you’re a PSVR owner in the US then make sure to enter here for a chance to win Angry Birds 2 VR. That’s not a sequel to Angry Birds or Angry Birds VR which came out earlier this year. It’s actually… oh nevermind.

Rounding out the week we look at your top comments from our hot topic – do you back VR Kickstarters?

And that’s all folks. The weekend is upon us once more. Will you be playing in VR? Or have you come to terms with the fact we’re already living in a simulation and this is, in fact, virtual reality itself? Stew on that and we’ll see you next week providing the existential dread doesn’t crush you.
