VR fans may already be familiar with ‘VR porn queen’ Ela Darling, but this week she’s made history.
Yesterday, Darling hosted the first ever live VR camera show for the Cam4 site, a popular service for livestreamed porn. It was the platform’s first time running a 3D 360 degree video live and people could tune in with an Oculus Rift, Gear VR or Google Cardboard HMD, bringing them closer to the experience than ever before. It didn’t stop there; Darling hosted a second show later in the day while other stars took to the platform to make their live VR debuts. You can expect to see these types of videos on the site far more often from now on.
Darling has also co-founded her own site, VRTube, which offers both live shows and holographic 3D porn; the first of its kind on the internet. Full videos of her and other stars can be bought from the site and then watched through its own “Holographic” player that can be downloaded for free. The creators seem to know what they’re up against; much of the site’s homepage is given over to links to pages explaining the concept and potential of VR porn, offering clear instructions on what you’ll need to experience it.
While sites like BaDoink are beginning to bring VR porn to the masses with some partnerships with the likes of Pornhub, Darling and other’s work looks a little further ahead. Many VR porn videos right now are simple 360 or 180 degree clips, but VRTube is using different means of capture to try and deliver a much more immersive experience.
Interestingly, most of this content caters to PC-based VR right now, even though BaDoink CEO, Todd Glider, recently confirmed that most of the company’s videos were watched through mobile devices right now. That will undoubtedly change in the future.
