PlayStation VR launches in just over two weeks. About 30 games will be available at launch and over 50 before the end of the year. But, hungry gamers that we are, we still want to know what’s coming next.
A glimpse of the future will no doubt be on offer when Sony’s PlayStation Experience fan event returns later this year. The company this week announced that this year’s expo would be hosted in Anaheim, California this December 3rd and 4th. The PlayStation Blog post that announced the news promises “dozens of PlayStation VR demos” for the show, suggesting that a whole heap of games will be on display.
Sony has also confirmed that it will once again host a PlayStation Showcase event on the morning of the first day. This is essentially another E3 press conference, or at least it has been for the past two years. Last year’s show had big reveals for PS VR, including the debut of Rez Infinite, Psychonauts In the Rhombus of Ruin, and just a tease of a new Ace Combat game supporting the tech.
This year will be different, however, as PS VR will actually be out. Owners will be looking for new games to get excited for in 2017, and those still on the fence will hope to be persuaded to buy one. We don’t know what Sony has in store, but we’d certainly welcome fresh looks of Resident Evil 7 and Farpoint. Following the showcase the event will open its doors to acres of demos. Sony has also confirmed that its controversial new console, PlayStation 4 Pro, will be at the show running on 4K TVs, and the Capcom Cup will return too.
Combine that with developer panels that will provide a little more insight into some of the games on the way to PS VR and it should make for a great event.
