LA Noire: The VR Case Files is releasing for Oculus Rift tomorrow on Thursday, March 29th. It didn’t take too long for Rockstar to release LA Noire: VR officially for Rift.
Originally releasing late last year with only Vive support on Steam, LA Noire VR quickly rose up the lists of best VR games available on the platform. We selected it as our favorite Vive game of 2017 and now Rift owners are going to get to explore the world of 1940s Los Angeles as Detective Cole Phelps.
With eight square miles of 1940s Los Angeles painstakingly re-imagined in virtual reality, LA Noire VR is very likely one of the largest VR games on the market today. While it doesn’t include the entirety of the non-VR game, it has a solid selection of cases to complete, as well as the entire city to explore either on foot or driving in vehicles.
Since the primary locomotion system in LA Noire is actually either teleportation-focused or arm-swinger locomotion, the inclusion of the Oculus Touch analog sticks won’t offer as much of an improvement, which is in contrast to the Rift version of ports of other games like Skyrim VR.
Hopefully this continued VR support means Rockstar is considering bringing more of their properties over to VR headsets or, at the very least, also bringing LA Noire VR to PSVR so even more fans can embody Cole Phelps like never before.
