The Snatch TV Series Is Getting A Tie-In PSVR Experience

If you’re familiar with Guy Ritchie’s Snatch, you probably think the idea of an off-shoot series quite bizarre. Want to know something weirder? It’s getting a tie-in experience for PlayStation VR (PSVR) too.

The series, which stars Harry Potter’s Rupert Grint, has just been renewed for a second season. Like the film before it, it’s set in the world of gangsters and cockney accents It’s set to return to Crackle, Sony’s free media streaming service, next year. Before it arrives, however, a tie-in experience made specifically for PSVR will be arriving this summer.

Snatch VR screen grab

Co-produced by Future Lighthouse, this will be an exclusive new episode of the series, shot in Manchester, UK, and starring Grint. While the episode will be a 360 video, viewers will apparently have some degree of control over its outcome. They’ll join a group of hustlers who attempt to break into the sage of Sonny Castillo, and will be able to decide whether or not to keep on cracking the safe or make an escape before the police arrive.

Traditionally we don’t see these kinds of experiences made available only on PSVR, though the headset is of course made by Sony, and it’s not the first case of the company leveraging its film and TV IP for its kit. Earlier this year, for example, the company released a Ghostbusters experience that appeared only on its headset. You can see what Sony CEO Kaz Hirai was talking about when he said the rising tide of VR would “raise all Sony boats“.

Look for the episode to hit in a few months’ time.
