VRLO Returns To London Next Month, Win A Chance To Showcase

Forget E3; London has its own share of VR events for the community to indulge upon. One of the biggest, VRLO, will be returning very soon.

VRLO 8 will take place on July 18th at 8 Northumberland Avenue, a bigger venue than the Picturehouse Central cinema that was used for the last event. It’s early days for the show so we don’t have a full line-up of what’s going to be there just yet, but you can expect a pretty good variety of projects across gaming, 360 video and more as well as talks from industry leaders. The last event had sessions from Google, Microsoft, HTC and more, for example.

One project that will be there is from event organizer, Rewind. The company will showcase its new collaboration with the Welsh National Opera, creating a VR experience that combines two classic operas: Madam Butterfly and The Magic Flute. The piece, named Magic Butterfly, runs on Google Daydream and provides a new sensory experience for these timeless works.

If you’re a developer, you can showcase at VRLO too. In fact the event is running a competition with the help of HTC and AMD in search of a new experience. All you need to do is get in touch and pitch your project. Five finalists will then showcase their work running on the HTC Vive on the big night. They’ll also get prizes from AMD itself. Drop an email over to chloe@rewind.co with a pitch of no more than 200 words if you’re interested.
