2015’s VRX Conference saw an impressive number of industry figureheads gather under one roof in San Francisco last November. Next month, it’s going to happen all over again.
VRX Europe is taking place in London, UK from May 12th – 13th and a list of high-profile speakers are set to be in attendance. The two day event will play host to talks and panels from companies behind the biggest VR HMDs, including Sony’s Simon Benson, currently working as Director of its Worldwide Studios Immersive Technology Group, and Joel Breton, Vice President of VR content for HTC. There are also appearances from some of the largest VR developers, including CCP Games CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson and Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley.
Perhaps most intriguing, though, are the speakers that we don’t usually get to hear from. These include David Cravinho, Global Fundraising Specialist for global children’s charity, Unicef, and President of the CEEK social VR platform, Mary Spio. There’s also BBC Innovation Manager Chris Nundy and Google Ventures’ Avid Larizadeh Duggan. Each will be speaking on panels and in sessions throughout the event, with the agenda available to see now. This year’s sponsors include the likes of Nvidia, Crytek and CCP Games
It isn’t just talks, though. Several demos and showcases will be at VRX, including the UK debuts of CCP Games’ multiplayer sci-fi sports title, Project Arena, and VRWerx’s horror tie-in, Paranormal Activity VR. Crytek will also be showcasing its Oculus Studios rock climbing exclusive, The Climb, and Virtually Live will have a 360 degree racing experience made in partnership with Formula E.
Speaking to UploadVR, VR Intelligence MD and Lead Organiser of VRX Pete Carkeek called the London event “the next step” in establishing VRX as a “go-to-meeting point” for the VR’s industry’s senior business executives working across all fields that the technology is covering. VR events are in no short supply in the nation’s capital, but VRX seems to be setting itself apart with the people it’s bringing in.
Passes to VRX Europe are available now and start at £129 for an Exhibition Only Pass, with a Basic Pass allowing access to sessions and other events available for £999. Finally, a Business Pass is going for £1,199 with access to a VIP area and more. We’re going to be at the show too, so look out for coverage from it in a few weeks’ time.
